Our history...

Proud to serve you

The Restaurant Bar du Musee Gauguin is a renowned and authentic restaurant that has proudly served the island of Tahiti since 1968. It was founded by Roger and Juliette Gowen and is considered a "must see".

A large number of personalities, politicians such as Philippe Seguin and Alain JuppƩ, as well as celebrities of the 7th Art such as Bette Davis or Marlon Brando have visited this superb site and have contributed to making it an essential place, for tourists and locals alike. Since then, our mission has been to offer high quality dishes to everyone who wants to combine a pleasant and authentic ambiance with French and Polynesian cuisine into an extraordinary gastronomic experience.

Our vision of the Future...

The Gauguin Museum Restaurant Bar has been located in the tropical district of Papeari since 1968. This family establishment welcomes our passion for fresh produce from the Presqu’île market and seafood from its rich lagoon. Our cuisine is authentic and is the result of a culinary journey among Tahitian, French and Asian influences with ingredients sourced locally for the most part, all in a warm and Polynesian atmosphere. Our varied menu offers a selection of original dishes and desserts, all concocted on site by our young and dynamic team of chefs.

ā€‹

With our delicious and unexpected combinations of ingredients, there's something for everyone. Loved by locals and tourists as well as by gourmets from the four corners of the world, the Restaurant Bar of the Gauguin Museum awaits you to discover its original cuisine.

ā€‹

The new management team with international experience will introduce its new gastronomic and design ideas to Polynesian customers. Our goal is to connect our history and our vision of the future as well as to preserve our Tahitian identity in an increasingly global world.

See you soon and we look forward to welcoming you!
